Doxycycline is an alternative drug in the treatment of gonorrhoea and syphilis. Dermatological infections Acne vulgaris when antibiotic therapy is considered necessary. Since Doxycycline is a member of the tetracycline group of antibiotics, it may be expected to be useful in the treatment of infections, which respond to other tetracyclines, such as: Ophthalmic infections Due to susceptible strains of gonococci, staphylococci and Haemophilus influenzae. Doxycycline Capsules are indicated in the treatment of trachoma, although the infectious agent is not always eliminated, as judged by immunofluorescence. Rickettsial infections Rocky Mountain spotted fever, typhus group, Q fever, Coxiella endocarditis and tick fevers. Other infections Psittacosis, cholera, meliodosis, leptospirosis, other infections due to susceptible strains of Yersinia species, Brucella species (in combination with Streptomycin), Clostridium species, Francisella tularensis and chloroquine-resistant falciparum malaria. Doxycycline Capsules are indicated for prophylaxis in the following conditions: Scrub typhus, travellers' diarrhoea (enterotoxigenic Escherichia coli), leptospirosis. Consideration should be given to official guidance on the appropriate use of antibacterial agents.FeaturesNature and contents of container• Doxycycline capsules are packed in blister packs made of one sheet of 200 micron rigid, opaque white polyvinyl chloride and a second sheet of 20 micron aluminium.• Pack size 8 capsule. It acts by preventing the growth of bacteria. This stops the body from producing hormones that cause inflammation and pain. Antibiotics are commonly used to treat infections caused by bacteria. Doxycycline capsules are commonly used in the treatment of a variety of infections caused by tetracycline-susceptible organisms, including trachoma, gonorrhoea, acne, pemphigus, parac clearance and post-acne. Post-infectious effects, such as diarrhea, are relatively mild and may lead to a temperature-related increase in blood pressure. Diarrhoea is often severe and may indicate that something is odd with the menstrual cycle. Treatment should be symptomatic since the infection can be spread by contact with the infected area. Discontinue treatment if symptoms persist or worsen. Patients with a history of acquired immunodeficiency (an area of deficiency that affects the blood-play of the body) may be at an increased risk for infections after long-term exposure to human infections. Doxycycline may be used in patients with a history of acquired immunodeficiency should have symptoms return within 48-72 hours. Contact your doctor if your condition persists or worsens.

In a bid to tackle rising prices, the NHS has slashed its list of prescription drugs from its range, from antibiotics to heartburn medication. But it is struggling to find a way to balance cost with patient safety, a study by Oxford Health Care Research and Action found.
The move comes amid a row over whether the NHS should pay for medicines to treat malaria, the same ailment that kills people in the Middle East.
Dr Andrew Simpson, the NHS directorate of research at Oxford Health Care Research, said: "The NHS was trying to cut down on the number of NHS prescriptions for malaria, but it's not doing its job. There is still high demand, and we need to address this."
In February, the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (Nice) announced that it would be limiting access to malaria prophylaxis to those aged 65 and over, with an aim to reduce the number of people living in rural areas.
The move comes amid a £2.5m increase in travel costs for travel sickness sufferers, which has been linked to cost increases of £100m a year in England.
Prices for antibiotics have gone up from £1.18bn last year to £10.89bn in 2015, with prescriptions for chloroquine, amoxicillin and the other two being reduced from £20.94bn last year to £10.99bn last year.
The NHS has been slashed from a range of drugs for acne and malaria prophylaxis, including doxycycline, to prevent malaria.
A spokesman said the NHS was "very committed to tackling this high cost."
The move was announced in November, after the drug giant Pfizer, which produces the drug, agreed a trial for patients with malaria, who would need to be tested in a hospital or a pharmacy.
But it has been suggested that the NHS could not afford the trial, and doctors could not get a prescription.
Dr David Brennan, the spokesman for the NHS group, said: "The NHS is committed to ensuring there is a safe, effective and cost-effective solution to all the high-price medicines and drugs in our health system. It is important to make sure that patients do not pay for medicines which are not medically necessary.
"Medicines that are medically necessary for life are also essential to ensure that patients receive quality care.
"In this way, we can work with other health systems and get patients to make the choice to pay for the medicines we can."
The NHS was in discussions with the Department of Health on a range of drugs for malaria, including a combination of rifabutin and rifampicin, which would cut the risk of malaria by 90% if the drug was used in combination with a malaria vaccine, and doxycycline, which could reduce the risk of malaria by 30%.

This antibiotic is also used in treating certain types of malaria, a condition in which a parasite grows inside a human body.
Doxycycline is not available as a generic medicine. However, it is often used by doctors to treat a variety of bacterial infections.
Doxycycline works by inhibiting an enzyme calledβ-adrenaline-producing enzymes (β-ARs), which are produced by certain bacteria in the gut.
These enzymes are necessary for the bacteria to grow and multiply, so the bacteria have to produce enough doxycycline to combat the infection. The way doxycycline is usually taken is by combining it with another antibiotic that is not a good option for an individual or a group of people.
Doxycycline is a type of antibiotic that works by binding to the walls of the bacterial cell wall, preventing them from breaking down the bacteria.
For years, the US government has imposed on doctors and hospitals what the National Health Insurance Plan (NHP) covers – a form of medical treatment, which can only be done under a doctor’s supervision. The NHP covers:infection withStaphylococcus aureus(S. aureus) andStreptococcus pneumoniaepneumoniae) and antibiotics (antibiotics are used to treat infections caused by these organisms).
The US government has also imposed on doctors and hospitals what the NHP covers:doxycycline (doxyPEP)is used to treatS. pneumoniae(pneumoniae) andAcinetobacter baumannii(a bacteria) andCampylobacter jejuniinfection caused by(pneumoniae).
